From Anne Fitzgerald, Executive Director
How did I become a #LifeChampion? I suppose the root of my convictions stem from my Catholic upbringing and the firm belief in the sanctity of Life. My parents were a great influence, taking me to my first March for Life at age 12. Now, it was one thing for me to say that I stood for life, attending marches and prayer vigils, but when facing an unplanned pregnancy at 22, that was an entirely different story.
My story is not unlike many women. I was a senior in college. I found out I was pregnant and my boyfriend and I had broken up. I was alone, terrified, and had 3 options: parent, abort, or adopt. In my mind I only had one choice, adoption.
While it was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, I wouldn’t have it any other way. There is a strong, intelligent, charismatic, and beautiful young woman in this world that I had a small part in creating. She has the best parents anyone could ask for and her future is bright as a first year in college.
Enough about me. We want to highlight YOU. Email me with your story (150 words or less), and a photo if you wish, and we will post your story on our Facebook page and our website. Tweet your story using the hashtag #LifeChampion. Thank you for being a Life Champion!
